How to Use the Text Styler

  1. 1

    Type or paste a line

A bio, a caption, a heading โ€” whatever you want to style.

  2. 2

    Highlight the part to change

Select a word or a phrase. Select nothing and the whole line is styled.

  3. 3

    Pick a style or decoration

The rest of the line stays exactly as it was. Then hit Copy.

How Styling a Selection Works

Highlight part of the line, choose a style, and only the highlighted characters change. Everything outside the selection is left byte for byte as it was. Select nothing and the whole line is styled, which is what a toolbar normally does when there is no selection.

Nothing here is formatting in the word-processor sense. Each style is a different set of real Unicode characters, so the result survives copy and paste into a bio or a caption where bold and italic buttons do not exist.

Mixing Styles in One Line

This is what the page is for. To mix fonts in one line you style each run separately: a bio reads better when one part carries the emphasis and the rest stays plain, and no whole-string generator can produce that โ€” it converts everything or nothing.

LineWhat was styled
๐“œ๐“ช๐”‚๐“ช ยท photographerName only, role left plain
booking ๐Ž๐๐„๐ for JuneOne word carrying the emphasis
ษดแด‡แดก โ€” 3 designs addedA label, with the detail readable

The rule that makes these read well: style the part that is decoration, and leave the part that carries information alone. A date, a price or a link in a styled alphabet is harder to read and impossible to search.

Underline, Strikethrough and Friends

The four decorations are combining marks โ€” characters that sit on top of the letter before them rather than taking their own space. That is why they work in places with no formatting toolbar.

  • Underline โ€” aฬฒbฬฒcฬฒ
  • Strikethrough โ€” aฬถbฬถcฬถ
  • Overline โ€” aฬ…bฬ…cฬ…
  • Slashed โ€” aฬธbฬธcฬธ

Each button toggles: press it on a run that already carries the mark and it comes off. Spaces are skipped, because a mark on a space renders as a floating line between words.

Restyling Text That Is Already Styled

Applying a second style does not layer on top of the first. The run is decoded back to plain letters and then re-encoded in the new style, so bold applied to script gives clean bold. Without that step the two alphabets would fight and the result would be a mix of both.

Choosing Plain is how you get the original letters back for one part of the line. Remove styling strips both the style and any decorations from the selection at once.

Decorations are kept apart from letters during that swap, which is why underlining a word and then making it bold leaves the underline in place.

What Gets Styled and What Does Not

Letters change. Digits, punctuation, emoji and symbols stay exactly as they are, because most of these alphabets cover Aโ€“Z only โ€” Unicode never encoded a script or fraktur digit set. Substituting a lookalike would make a date or a price wrong rather than styled.

Small capitals behave slightly differently from the rest: capitals stay full height and lowercase letters become small capitals, which is what gives the style its even look.

Where Mixed Styling Holds Up

Anywhere that accepts Unicode text: Instagram and TikTok bios and captions, Discord names and messages, X posts, WhatsApp, and most profile fields. The styled characters travel with the text, so pasting keeps the look.

Two limits worth knowing before you commit a profile to it. Platform search matches the characters that are stored, so a styled name will not be found by someone typing the plain spelling โ€” keep the searchable version in the field people search. And screen readers announce these characters by name or skip them, so anything that has to be understood should stay in plain letters.

The compatibility guide lists which styles render on which platforms if you need to check a specific one.

Frequently Asked Questions

How is this different from the font generator on the homepage?

The homepage converts your whole text into hundreds of styles at once and you pick one. This page does the opposite: you keep one piece of text and change only the part you have highlighted. It is the tool for wanting your name in script and the rest of the bio in plain letters, which the homepage cannot do because it works on the whole string.

Can I use two different styles in one sentence?

Yes, and that is the point of the page. Highlight a word, apply a style, then highlight a different word and apply another. Each run keeps whatever style it was given. Instagram, TikTok and Discord all display the result, because it is ordinary Unicode text rather than formatting.

What happens if I style text that is already styled?

It is decoded back to plain letters first and then restyled, so applying bold to script text gives clean bold rather than a mangled mix. Applying the Plain style is how you get the original letters back for a run.

Do underline and strikethrough survive a style change?

Yes. Decorations are combining marks that sit on top of a letter, and they are carried separately from the letter itself. If you underline a word and then make it bold, it stays underlined.

Why do numbers and punctuation stay unchanged?

Most of the styled alphabets cover letters only โ€” Unicode never encoded a script or fraktur digit set. Rather than substitute something that does not match, digits and punctuation are left as they are, which keeps a date or a price readable inside a styled line.

Will a screen reader cope with mixed styling?

Poorly, in the same way it copes with any styled Unicode. Mathematical alphabet characters are announced by their character names or skipped, and combining marks add noise. Style the decorative part of a line and leave anything that carries meaning โ€” a price, a time, a link โ€” in plain letters.

Is my text sent anywhere?

No. Everything happens in your browser. Nothing you type is uploaded, stored or logged.

Is the text styler free?

Yes, completely free with no sign-up and no limit on how much text you style.

Want the whole line in one style instead?

This page styles a selection. If you want to see one sentence in every style at once and pick a favourite, that is the generator's job.
